The Grumman Trader

Next up in the Parade of Naval Warbirds is the Grumman C-1 Trader.

This aircraft is a Carrier On Board Delivery version of the Grumman S-2 Tracker which was a carrier based submarine hunter.
The S-2 Tracker was developed in the early 1950's when the Navy decided that it needed a carrier based sub hunter. It was equipped with a means of detecting and destroying submarines.
It remained in service with the Navy until 1976 when it was replaced by the S-3 Viking. It is still in service with the Argentine Navy.
The C-1 came as the Navy realized it needed planes to deliver stuff to carriers.
The C-1 Remained in service with the US Navy until 1988.
